Mobile device management
Mobile Device Management (MDM) is a type of administration for a wide range of devices that include cell phones, tablets (iPads), laptops, or devices used for manufacturing and logistics such as mobile terminals for bar code reading, personal printers or point-of-sales systems connected to the wireless network.
In addition, MDM comes in handy when employees need to gain access to the company network to be able to connect their personal devices. This is called “bring your own device (BYOD)”. BYOD is a growing phenomenon when the employee uses his or her personal device (mostly cellphone) for both work and personal related purposes. MDM enables a separation of the personal data from the work related data. Simultaneously, MDM puts emphasis on a heightened security standard (for example password strength and validity).
The main characteristics of an MDM solution are as follows:
- Guideline enforcement – strict monitoring of a wide range of principles on devices registered under the MDM
- Personal guidelines – customization based on company requirements
- Device-specific guidelines – management guidelines tailored for Android, iOS, Windows, and Blackberry devices
- Control of compliance with company guidelines
- VPN setting
- Application catalog
- Predefined profiles for wireless networks
- Remote messaging or total control over a device
- Identification of unauthorized device modification
- Remotely locking a device
- Remote erasing of data
- Remote erasing of the entire device
- Disabling original apps on a device
In addition, MDM can serve as a device registry capable of generating various types of reports useful for asset management.
Depending on the customer's requirements and the quantity and composition of devices that need to be managed, we can design and implement the ideal solution. We specialize in managing devices for manufacturing and logistics, in which we have years of experience. However, we are also capable of providing high-quality advice regarding the management of other mobile devices.
